EQ Internships

Right in the middle than just outside

Since 2004 there are sponsored long-term internships for young people who haven’t found an apprenticeship – so called “entrance qualifications for young people” (EQ) as part of the joint job training initiative for the German economy. ThyssenKrupp have taken an active part in this initiative right from the start. The goal is to take the youths over into a regular apprenticeship after they completed this internship.

The EQ internships last 6 to 12 months and start any time of each year.

Ideally you should…
… have graduated from a secondary education school (Hauptschule or Realschule) and take stock in technology, machines, and what makes things tick - then you’ve already fulfilled important prerequisites for most of the offers at ThyssenKrupp. On principle, the EQ program is not targeted to any particular apprenticeship.

What you can expect…
… as an EQ intern, you’ll acquire skills and social competencies that will prepare you well for starting an apprenticeship. Over the period of 6 to 12 months, you'll have the opportunity to get to know your favorite job, its requirements and the respective company of our group. You will receive a basic remuneration as required by law, and on top of that, the Federal Employment Agency will pay a flat charge towards your social security. At the end of your EQ internship, your performance will be evaluated, and you’ll receive a certificate by your company as well as a certificate issued by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

A broad base for the future:
We are glad to be able to offer young people a perspective with the EQ program. The additional benefit that is part of their EQ time is credited to their apprenticeship time afterwards. If the transfer to one of our companies should not work out, this long-term internship still serves as a good foundation for starting an apprenticeship in another company.
