ThyssenKrupp signed a broad-reaching partnership agreement with the Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB) in January 2002. The move marked ThyssenKrupp’s growing commitment to cooperation with the engineering faculty at the RUB as well as the faculty for economics.
Spearheading the partnership are: Dr. Elmar W Weiler, Chancellor of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and Prof.h.c. (CHN) Dr.-Ing E.h. Dr. Ulrich Middelmann, Deputy Chairman of the Board at ThyssenKrupp AG.
The ThyssenKrupp START Program
The ThyssenKrupp START Program sponsors excellence on a number of fronts. On the one hand, the aim is for instructors in each faculty to receive the right curricular and material support, on the other it provides financial backing makes it possible to hold instruction in general. On top of this, students are given an early opportunity to exchange views on issues resulting from the partnership and everyday practice at ThyssenKrupp.
The "Campusunternehmen" business simulation
The “Campusunternehmen” (campus company) business simulation is organized regularly to prepare students for the challenges of project work and is an excellent opportunity not only to improve their skills, but also to put their team-playing capabilities to the test.
“ThyssenKrupp meets College”
As part of a series of events, students get to know the world of ThyssenKrupp. This can be through informal get-togethers, arts events or joint engineering projects.
In-Touch graduate day
The association for students, alumni, and anyone with a general interest in the faculty for machine engineering presents itself at the Graduate Day which is held at the International Conventional Center at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
Ruhr-Universität Bochum is continuously staging new ThyssenKrupp events, including get-togethers as part of the ThyssenKrupp meets College program as well as its student awards ceremonies.
As well as this, there are joint events such as the Rhein-Ruhr Marathon, student body trips, and company presentations, strengthening the bond between the university and the technology company.
