Feedback

Feedback provides information on how others perceive, understand and experience our own behavior. It allows us to recognize more easily the effect of our behavior on others and narrow the discrepancy between our self-perception and other people’s perception of us. Formal feedback is provided e.g. during employee interviews, both from supervisor to employee and vice-versa. For feedback to be effective, understood and accepted it has to be planned, prepared, structured, explained by means of examples and communicated in a spirit of mutual respect. Effective feedback can trigger learning processes and behavioral changes which help advance our personal development.
