Going up: The Elevator Technology business area is part of the Technologies division and focuses the Group’s activities in the area of passenger transportation systems. Whether it’s passenger and freight elevators, escalators, moving walks, passenger boarding bridges, stair or platform lifts, we make it easy to move around. And our quality service guarantees the consistently high quality of all our products.

With its innovative technologies, Elevator Technology creates reliable, energy-efficient and ecological products that set market standards. One example: The TWIN elevator system, in which two cabs run independently in one shaft – at different speeds of up to seven meters per second and in different directions. A globally unique system! In office buildings, apartment blocks, hotels, shopping malls, airports and stations around the world, our systems operate round the clock to ensure people reach their destinations quickly and safely – regardless of whether it’s the 78th floor or on a different continent. In addition to standard systems, our range also includes custom solutions as well as service, maintenance and modernization packages. Our 44,000 employees (as at September 2009) at 800 locations in more than 60 countries provide a tight service network close to customers.

Sustainability is a priority, and we are constantly working to further reduce the energy requirements of our products. For example, we equip our elevators with energy-efficient LED lighting and regenerative drives – energy generated when braking the cabs is converted into electricity and fedback to the power supply system. This significantly lowers energy consumption in the building.
